The Silver Jackets Program consists of Silver Jackets teams in all states and several territories. These teams bring together state, federal, tribal, and local agencies to learn from each other to address flood risk and other natural disasters to enhance preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts. Resources for team activities come through the individual programs of each agency.

Eligible Uses

State teams may provide technical assistance, but specific activities differ by state. The Silver Jackets work includes reducing and communicating about flood risk, collaboratively addressing state priority issues, and establishing relationships to support post-disaster recovery solutions. View examples here of Silver Jackets interagency nonstructural efforts, which in some cases may also include natural infrastructure.

Eligible Recipients

Silver Jackets teams work across federal agencies to work with and provide assistance to state, territory, local, and Tribal governments.

Approx Annual Funding Amount

Resources for team activities come through the individual programs of each agency, within the constraints of available budgets, such as USACE’s budget for the Floodplain Management Services Program.
